Moving blog feature to a new page breaks rss and individual blog links

I am re-organizing my site and am trying to move the blog feature from one page to another. The entire blog feature and not individual blog posts. The new page allows "all users" to view page as does the blog feature.

When I move the blog feature to the new page, it'll move but when you click on the title of an individual post i'm taken to the Access Denied Page. Again, I've double checked the security settings.  When I click on the RRS link, I get the rss page (.../blog8rss.aspx) with the text "Invalid Request".  I've tried this move three times, double checked the security, etc..

When I move it back to the original page, the links for the individual blog posts work and I'm taken to that posts page.  However, the RSS links are still broken.

System Information
mojoPortal Version 2.3.6.6 MSSQL
Operating System Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2

Am I missing a setting or something or is this a bug?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,

Marc

Re: Moving blog feature to a new page breaks rss and individual blog links

Hi Marc,

This is a known issue, moving a blog to a different page is not supported and best avoided. You can rename the page or move the page to a different place in the site hierarchy but you should not move the blog to a different page after it has posts and a blog instance cannot be used on more than one page.

The reason is because the friendly urls for blog posts map to real urls in the form /Blog/BlogView.aspx?pageid=x&mid=y&ItemID=z

and security is enforced based on the pageid and moduleid in the url to ensure they match the current page and that the current page contains the module.

The only solution other than moving the blog back to its original page which is what I recommend is to manually fix all the friendly url mappings for the blog posts so that the real url has the new pageid. This could be done under Administration > Advanced Tools > Url Manager but it would be very tedious if you have lots of posts.

Hope that helps,

Joe
