New Pages Not Keeping "Edit as Draft Only" Roles

When security permissions are set on a page and a new page is created below that page, it seems to keep all of the same permissions except the roles for “Roles that can only edit this page as draft” are always removed. How can we make sure a new page keeps the same role permissions as its parent page?

We need to set it up so Content Authors can only edit pages as a draft but have the ability to create new pages.

Hi Danielle,

Thanks for the bug report. This is now fixed in the source code repository so it will be fixed in the next release of mojoPortal.

Best,

Joe

Re: New Pages Not Keeping "Edit as Draft Only" Roles

Hey Joe -

Thanks for fixing the permissions in the latest version of mojoportal. However, now I'm running into a new problem on version 2.3.7.6.

I need to allow content authors to edit pages as draft only and submit for approval but allow them to create a new pages. I noticed when a content author needs to create a new page the "Is Draft" option is grayed out on the Page Settings (which is what I need) but after they create the page, that role is added to the "Roles that can edit this page" and the "Is Draft" option becomes unchecked allowing them to update the content they add to the page and publishing it to the live site.

Is there a way for Content Authors to create a new page, add features and update content without publishing it to the live site?

Thanks,

Danielle

Re: New Pages Not Keeping "Edit as Draft Only" Roles

Hi Danielle,

Currently we don't have functionality for Roles that can create child pages only as draft, it is something planned that we have not got to yet. Users with more permissions such as Admins or Content Admins can make pages and set them as draft and allow people to edit them as draft and then uncheck is draft when they are ready for the page to go live, but at the moment there is not a way to give someone permission to only create draft pages.

I expect we will get to this sometime in the course of 2012 but we have a lot of pressing priorities to get to so I can't say with any certaintly when it will happen.

Best,

Joe
