Feed Manager - Selective publishing

If I tick selective publishing on the Feed Manager but do not tick publish by default on a feed, I do not see new feed items in the publish manager.

If I change to publish by default, I then see the new items and can choose to not publish them and then can still see them in publish manager.

Is this a bug or me doing something wrong?

System Information
mojoPortal Version 2.3.6.7 MSSQL
Operating System Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1
ASP.NET Info v4.0.30319 Running in Full Trust

Re: Feed Manager - Selective publishing

Hi Spike,

If you enable selective publishing then you have to explicitly publish individual posts using the Manage Publishing link, or if you also enable In Place Selective Publishing then as an editor you will see all the posts in the feed in place and can choose whether to publish them from there while non editors only see the posts you have published. The green check means a post is published and clicking it un-publishes, and clicking a green plus is what publishes it.

Though if you change to enable selective publishing after you already added feeds then the current posts are already published, so to remove posts you would have to un-publish them.

If you think it is not working correctly please try to reproduce the problem on the demo site so I can see it.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Feed Manager - Selective publishing

Hi Joe,

I re-created the issue I'm seeing on the demo site.

I noticed the first feed item works as expected, but not subsequent ones.

I created a 'feed issue' page on the demo site with a forum and a feed manager. After changing some settings, I added a feed from the forum to the feed manager then I added two new topics.

You can see the feed has picked up the first topic (which is not published) but not the second. If I were to add more topics / replies I think these also do not show - so there is no way to publish them (without selecting publish by default). You can try adding a new topic then publishing it.

If I were to edit the feed settings & make it publish by default, the second topic would show up.

thanks,

Spike

Re: Feed Manager - Selective publishing

Hi Spike,

Clearing the feed cache from the add/edit feeds page resolved the issue, it was probably cached after the first post and would have resolved itself when the cache expired.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Feed Manager - Selective publishing

Thanks Joe, that makes sense. How long can it take for the cache to expire?

Re: Feed Manager - Selective publishing

Hi Spike,

The cache duration is configurable from the feed manager settings.

Best,

Joe
