Windows Live Messenger - "Leave This Page" Prompt

Hey Joe, I noticed a minor bug that I believe relates to the Windows Live Messenger module (we have mojo/MSSQL 2.3.6.4 installed).  It may well be that you don't have any control over this one, in which case, please ignore this post.  However, in Chrome, when visiting a page with the WLM module installed, clicking any link causes a Javascript prompt dialog that says, "Confirm Navigation - true" to which you have to click "Leave this Page".  Eg, you can reproduce the bug by visiting http://code.colostate.edu / clicking a link.  It's not a big deal, but I just thought I'd pass it along...

Regards,
Shaun

Re: Windows Live Messenger - "Leave This Page" Prompt

Hi Shaun,

That is very strange. I'm not able to reproduce it on the demo site nor my local machine. Are you sure that is not coming from some custom javascript you guys have added yourself? Does it happen also using skins shipped with mojoPortal?

Since it does not have a user friendly message it sure looks like a developer work in progress not something fully baked so it seems unlikely to be coming from the WLM widget itself and it isn't anything I've implemented in mojoPortal (at least not yet we are looking at doing something like that once content has changed in an editor if it has not been saved, but I have not done any work towards that yet).

funny when I google for "live messenger leave this page" this forum thread is the first result which is nice since it shows our forums are indexed frequently, but I don't find any other reports of the problem.

Best,

Joe

I take it back, I was able to produce this on the demo site, so it must be coming from the WLM widget. Very strange.

Joe

Re: Windows Live Messenger - "Leave This Page" Prompt

Since it only happens in Chrome and there have been previous problems like this with Chrome, I can only guess it is a bug in Chrome. I cannot imagine that Microsoft is trying to do this only in Chrome with their Live Messenger widget code, and it has been reported previously with other sites such as Facebook. So it must be something Chrome is doing automatically based on something about the content of the page.

Best,

Joe

Thanks Joe for looking into this.  It's only slightly annoying smiley, but I appreciate this info.
