Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

Pulled from the User.Config.Sample file;

 <!--
  IMPORTANT:
  Note that changes made to this file ar enot automatiocally detected by the ASP.NET runtime
  It does detect changes to Web.config, so when you make a change in this file you need to touch Web.config (ie type a space in it andf save it)
  to make it reload settings
  -->

Come on guys... really.

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

yes, really

if a typo in comments in a config file is going to disturb you that much, you should just move along right now. I'm sure there are many more where that came from.

I work in Visual Studio 2010 not Microsoft Word, and typos in comments are on the low end of the spectrum of things needing my attention. I don't mind you pointing them out but keep the attitude to yourself.

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

No attitude Joe, just an observation.  As a developer you know that it's attention to detail that makes or breaks code...

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

I don't think some typos in comments are really going to send people to other projects and I don't think that they are indicative of poor attention to detail. I would rather have Joe spending his time developing mojoPortal than worrying about spell checking comments.

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

You know. At the end of the day. The bottom line is The MojoPortal project is the best supported project i have ever seen.

Instead of being critical, why not politely help to improve any defects or errors wether small or large.

I say I tip my hat to Joe and the rest of the people who make MojoPortal GREAT!

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

In any case I will fix this typo, but in fact I do not run spelling checkers on my code and there is no spelling checker included in Visual Studio.

As a developer I know that some details are far more important than others and focusing too much on less important ones can prevent you from attending to the more important ones.

Also, I'm only striving for excellence, not perfection :-)

Best,

Joe

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

I'm a code jock too and I'd like to help where I can.  I'm a recent convert to mojoPortal from DotNetNuke so I've had to do lots and lots of reading so I see the typos too.  Is there a place where someone can help with this?  I'll gladly contribute in any way I can and if it's something as trivial as this I'll help.  Once I get comfortable with development I may not use the documentation anymore but if I went through it someone else might too.  Like I said I'm a code jock not a copy editor so I may not be the best person to take this on, I just want to contribute to the community.

I'd like to help with some skinning videos too.  It took me quite a bit of time to get it all nailed but I think I got it and I'd like to put together a few videos that might save someone else some confusion.  If I can contribute to the community in any way I'm happy to help.

Once I can get all this done and posted I'll 'hopefully' start making some money and I'll send Joe a whole case of beer.  I like beer too, it's a good, good thing.  cheeky

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

Post a list of the pages with typos to this thread, and I'll work through them as I can. Thanks for helping!

Re: Ever heard of a Spell Checker?

Thanks for the report. I've corrected that and made a few other corrections and changes, so it will be fixed when Joe approves the update.
