Content editing lost unless page is updated first

Joe

I am seeing some very strange behavior I believe that this was occurring occassionally but now appears to be occurring everytime I am editing content for the first time.

Here is what I observe

  • Logged in as site admin
  • Editor opens as expected
  • updated content as needed
  • Click update button
  • content reverts back to original (prior to editing status)
  • I am seeing this in both CKEditor and TinyMCE and across all content type
  • Once I have attempted the update the first time and it fails from this point on the content does update

I am running v2.3.3.6b on MSSQL 2008 and nothing looks out of place in the system log.

--------------------------

Funny thing just happened

I attempted to update this post and the same thing happened all edits were lost

-------------------------

If you need any additional information from me let me know

Re: Content editing lost unless page is updated first

Are you behind a caching proxy server?

Are you using cache duration > 0 in feature settings?

Are you running low on disk space?

Are you seeing any errors in the log about file permission errors? We clear the cache by touching certain files, if it can;t modify  the file it would fail to clear the cache.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Content editing lost unless page is updated first

Joe

Our site is behind a proxy (ISA) however I was seeing the same behavior on the mojoportal.com forums when working from home yesterday so it can't be our proxy.

Diskspace is not currently an Issue

I am now beginning to think it is something firefox specific possibly an extension. As I haven't been able to produce it when using chrome

I will do a little more digging

No permission errors

I will update if I am able to find the cause

Re: Content editing lost unless page is updated first

Joe

I have an update on this, I can confirm that it is a firefox v3.6 specific problem

I am not sure as to why though

I am wondering if there is an extension that is causing the problem both with posting on mojoportal.com and supoprt.tsaadvet.com

I attempted 3 times to update this thread and each time nothing posted, and editing of the newsletter is just as unreliable in firefox

Here is a list of the extensions I am running

Adblock plus (disabled on mojoportal.com and support.tsaadvet.com)

All Glass firefox mod

Automatic save folder

Dummy Lipsum

Firebug

FireFTP

Forecastbar enhanced

.NET framework assistant

Move Media Player

The Camelizer

Weave Sync

WebSlingPlayer

If you have any suggestions I will give them a try

I will be trying firefox v3.6 portable (no extensions) and see if the problem can be attributed to the extensions

Re: Content editing lost unless page is updated first

Joe

I started Firefox in safe mode and could not get this Issue to present

I have to believe that there is a firefox extension that is causing this Issue I will attempt to identify which one so that if someone else runs into the problem at least it is documented

Edit

-------

after spending the night troubleshooting this by enabling one add on at a time the problem only presents with firebug enabled

I have disabled and reenabled the add on and the problem is only present with the add on enabled but not running on the page

Firebug 1.5 Console Off Net Off Script Off

Suspended

Minimized
