Problem with user role and edit rights

Win2K3 SP2
Db MS SQL 2228
Compiled files

Hi Joe,

We have a multiple site installation of Mojo.
Pages are set to be viewed by 'Authenticated Users' and editable by 'Content Authors'.

Last week we had 16 users log in for the 1st time and all were able to edit pages.
Investigating today I've double checked that all users are set to 'Authenticated Users' and pages as above.

Unfortunately, I didn't see this and am unable to replicate it but one of content authors claims it did happen!!

Is there even the slightest chance this is possible and is not user error?

Colin

Re: Problem with user role and edit rights

Hi Colin,

I've never seen this problem myself nor has anyone else ever reported it and since you cannot reproduce it, it seems likely that there was a misperception. If content authors claim it happened perhaps its because they were able to edit themselves and were thinking other users saw the same edit controls that they saw.

If there is anything like a caching proxy server in betwwen the users and the site its possible the proxy served a cached copy of a page with edit links and icons, but clicking them would not allow a user who is not in an edit role to edit even in that case.

You are running a rather old version, I would recommend you upgrade soon. A new release will be available tomorrow.

Best,

Joe

Re: Problem with user role and edit rights

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we do use a caching proxy server so I suspect it could be that or ahem.. user error!

Will be upgrading in the summer.

Regards

Colin
