Drag and drop pages in Page Manager gets it wrong

In three different sites I find the Page Manager drag and drop experience infuriating - move a page to a new place (typically beneath the same parent, just re-ordering siblings) > the page manager shows the new order respecting where I dragged the page to > exit the Page Manager and the pages are in a different order. It has just taken me about ten minutes to get my page order right after moving one page. I cannot yet identify any logic to the problem, but will report back if I do.

mojoPortal Version 2.6.0.0 MSSQL

Operating System Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1

ASP.NET Info 4.0.30319.42000 Running in Full Trust

Re: Drag and drop pages in Page Manager gets it wrong

I've now found that in FF and Chrome, dragging and dropping the page results in a popup "Invalid Request" warning immediately after the "Are you sure you want to move the page?" dialogue.

Re: Drag and drop pages in Page Manager gets it wrong

Do you have any script errors when using the page manager?

Do you have the same problems when using the "framework" skin?

Re: Drag and drop pages in Page Manager gets it wrong

More info... the "invalid request" message appeared when using the Page Manager as an unauthenticated user!  I was rather surprised to be able to access this page, but perhaps it has to be that way(?) and certainly I couldn't actually change anything, even though it looked like I would be able to.

Trying again on one site with an old artisteer-derived skin, in Chrome logged in as administrator, on loading the page I get a "JQMIGRATE: jQuery.browser is deprecated" warning.

On dragging/moving the page I see this 404 error: https://mysite.com/Data/style/img/jqtree-circle.png

Immediately after clicking OK to the confirmation prompt, I see this: "[Deprecation] Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help, check https://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/."

Then this "jquery.min.js:5 XHR finished loading: POST "https://mysite.com/Services/SiteMapJson.ashx?cmd=move""

The page appears to have moved in the hierarchy, but on loading the page, the order shown in the tree is usually not the same as the actual page order, and I have to keep messing around for ages until by luck they end up correct. It's really very irritating as there's no other way of re-ordering the pages (without going into the database) - or is there? Is it possible to revert to the old page manager?

The pages I've just been testing on are the children of this page: https://www.breconfans.org.uk/fan-y-big-horseshoe-race and you'll see the order matters as they are for years. New pages appear at the bottom by default so have to be moved.

Any help on this would be appreciated, and I'll test with a framework skin soon.
