New Skin

Hi,

I have a new skin output as html from artisteer however when I copy the folder over to Web\Data\Sites\1\skins and I go to change the skin of the website in the admin section of my website, it shows no style at all, just text, as if no css is present at all.

I saw an article about having to possibly update layout.Master file whilst looking at the markup from the index.html file, but to be honest it didn't make a whole lot of sense to me when comparing the two. I tried copying some of the html over to the master layout file but that didn't work.

Thanks for any help,

Andrew

Re: New Skin

Hi Andrew,

The export from Artisteer contsains only part of what you need for a mojoPortal skin. If you did not start with an existing skin then your skin is missing needed files therefore it doesn't work at all.

The most important step is choosing the correct skin to use as the starting point from the table in the article Creating Skins from Artisteer Html Exports. Read that article very carefully and it should get you on track. The main difference in the skins in the table are the variations in layout.master file needed for various layouts that can be produced in Artisteer. If you chooose the wrong one the layout will not be correct. The table tells you how to choose based on settings in Artisteer for header footer and menu. If you choose incorrectly the layout won't be correct but if all else fails you can try copying the layout.master file form each of the skins mentioned in the table into your skin folder until you find the correct one.

Make sure you are using the latest verison of mojoPortal 2.3.8.1 and using Artisteer 3.1

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: New Skin

Hi Joe,

I've been following http://www.mojoportal.com/artisteer-30-instructions and I've spent some time readying through carefully what to do.

As a test, I copied artisteer-30headermenu in to a new empty folder without the images folder. Opened the artisteer-30headermenu artisteer template, changed just the header and footer colour, exported as html, copied the exported files in to my new folder (copy of  artisteer-30headermenu less the images) and the style was a bit all over the place.

Is the latest mojo portal compatible with artisteer 3.0 still?

I've come up with a really nice template in artisteer, but I'm not sure what I need to change in the master layout file to get it working. This is my first attempt at this and I've no experience with css.

Thanks,

Andrew

Re: New Skin

Hi Andrew,

Make sure you are using mojoPortal 2.3.8.1 (ie the latest release)

For your starting skin, make sure you start with the copy of artisteer-30headermenu from the extra-skins.zip download that shipped with this release of mojoPortal, not an older version of that skin.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: New Skin

Hi Joe,

I think I've cracked it now. I had been trying a few different designs, and just kept taking the latest html export and putting that in to my skin folder. I found that after each export, I had to start over by clearing the contents of the folder, copying in the original files, then copying in the new export files. This seemed to do the trick. I may have also been using the old version of artisteer-30headermenu so also took the latest from the suggested extra-skins zip file on codeplex.

Thanks for your help!

Andrew

Re: New Skin

Joe,

Have you ever known the main menu under the header not to style properly?

Everything else seems fine.

Thanks,

Andrew
