Redirect Url

Hai,

I have created  a  google custom search in the website www.example.com. The urls www.example.com  and micromo.com refers the same site.

So while im searching  result through google custom search which displays the correct result.

But  url displays under  each result  is different ,some results have the url  www.example.com some results have the url example.com.

The url www.example.com only display under each and every search results.                example.com should not be display on the search results.

For that i use webmaster tools to select the prefered domain. I have selected the prefered domain as www.example.com.Now im waiting for the google Crawls. Then i  also gave robots.text to disallow the site example.com in server root directory .But i am not sure whether the given format is wright. i am very very new to this field.
What i have given in the client server root directory is

# robots.txt
User-agent: *
Disallow: /example.com/
Allow:/www.example.com/

Please tell me it is the correct format to disallow website micromo.com
If not please send me the correct robot.text to disallow the website micromo.com and allow the website www.micromo.com

In mojoportal Is there any way to solve this problems?, Is there  any settings are available in mojoportal?

Its urgent

plz reply me soon.

Thanks in advance

Nisha

Re: Redirect Url

Hi,

You should not use multiple domains/host names for the same site as this hurst your SEO. See the article Forcing a Preferred Host name. However if google has already crawled both domains you don't have control over which one they return in search results. By forcing a preferred host name you can make sure they only crawl the preferred domain in the future then they will gradually correct the search index. mojoPortal automatically creates canonical url links but if you are allowing more than one host name then it doesn't work correctly because the different requests would each have the hostname of the current request for the canonical. So it is important to force a singlke preferred host name. Then after a while when google has crawled again and updated their index it will start only showing the one domain.

Hope that helps,

Joe
