Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

The template I'm trying to use, I got from Artisteer website.

The "nutrition consultant" template.

This template uses a jquery.js file which is not present in any of the skins that came with mojoportal.

So, it does not have any images.

The menu appears as bullets when I try to use the template with mojoportal.

Any help/assistance on how to get this to work will be appreciated.

Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

Hi

The nutrition consultant skin is a 1 column skin.  It would have to be changed to a 3 column skin in artisteer to work properly in mojoPortal.  You don't have to use 3 columns, it just needs to be 3 columns capable.

All artisteer skins that I use (about a dozen) all have a jquery.js file in the skin folder.

Some artisteer skins work fine as-is in mojoPortal, But all those that I have chosen lately require me to re-order some of the tag sections in my layout.master file.  If this is required for yours, you have to make the layout.master tags order match the tags order of the index.html generated by artisteer.  It usually takes me about 10 minutes to do this now although the first one probably took me 30 minutes.  It can be done having both files opened in text editors, but file compare editors work better.  If you have never done this before, you need to wrap your head around how markup tag nesting works.  There is an open and a close tag, etc...

Hope this helps

Rick

Thanks for your time, Rick.

I've tried your suggestion, but still remains the same.

On importing the template into artisteer, no image shows.

The menu still appears as bullet points.

Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

Well...  I tried for an hour and did make some progress but I must say...  this is the most difficult artisteer skin I have ever tried to convert for use with mojoPortal.

If you want, here's my layout.master to look at and try.

It may be no better than yours.  In mine the menu shows but is verticle?????

Still no header image.

Sorry I tried.

Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

Hi Rick,

Do you have the .artx file or just the html export?

If you have the .artx file please email it to me and I'll try to take a look this weekend sometime.

Note that while the Artisteer export includes jquery, we don't use that since jquery is already included by mojoPortal. Typically the only script we include in layout.master for Artisteer skins is the one named script.js

Best,

Joe

Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

Hi Guys,

I think the main reason this one doesn't work well is because it has no side columns, and even if you change a page in the design to have a 3 column layout there is no content (blocks) in the side columns so no style is generated for the side columns. The first page is really a single column but appears like 4 columns because the columns are part of the placeholder content, not part of the layout which is the part of the design that needs to become a mojoPortal skin. That home page content could be scraped for the html in the exported html and then a content template could be created in mojoPortal using that filler content. But that isn't giving the design any 3 column style which it would have if the typical artisteer generated content that would be created when you use the suggest design feature and then change to a 3 column layout it magically creates filler content for the columns that lets you see and change the side bar styles. But when you add columns to this nutrition design it does not magically create any filler content. It might be possible to manually create the content in the side bars and then try suggest sidebar and/or suggest blocks to get some style for the side columns or else the super designers (or people very good at designing from scratch in Artisteer) can probably manually set the properties for the side column content. But the bottom line is until it has something for the side content and styles it won't export anything in the CSS to style the columns.

That said, I managed to create a skin (though the side columns are not so pretty since as mentioned above it requires you to style it in Artisteer before exporting). I changed the About Us page in Artisteer to make it have 3 columns and I re-exported the html and used the about-us.html as my comparison to layout.master. I used artisteer-30headermenu as the starting point but it did require significant changes in layout.master and a minor change in theme.skin and a few small tweaks in style-artisteeroverides.css and stylemojo.css

You can download a zip of the skin here.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Problem with using Artisteer Skins with mojoportal

Thanks for taking the time to check that out for knight Joe.

Yes...  that is quite a different skin.  It's been there on the Artisteer site for some time now, It was probably built in one of the V 3 beta releases.
