Adding custom menu to Admin Menu

Hi Guys,

I have a small site based on mojoPortal.  One of the features of the site is to accept Applications.  In the backend I have an Admin page to view all the application information.  I tried to add a link using the process described here: http://www.mojoportal.com/administration-menu.aspx.  All works well if I use an older browser.  However, with the newer browsers I see admin icons instead of the list and my custom admin link no longer shows.

Can someone please point me in the right direction for adding icons to the admin menu.

Thanks.
