Newsletter Subscription

I have a lot of personal contacts that I have verbally spoken to who have agreed that I can subscribe them to my newsletter.

Now ideally I would like to just add them to the a subscription list and they get the newsletter. Now I understand that we can't just spam people and that there are some very effective processes in place in mojoportal. However even though they would like to get a newsletter, people being people in this busy world will forget to subscribe so I would like to add them myself.

I guess that I could register them to the site and then let them know with the password and sign them up to the newsletter.

Alternatively and I suspect the more appropriate approach would be to sign them up for a newsletter and for them to verify. This being the case I would like to change the confirmation/verification email text. How do I go about doing changing the verification text.

Also is there a better way of signing up solicitated clients to the newsletter, yet keeping the integrity of not spamming people.

Re: Newsletter Subscription

Hi,

Please don't paste from Word when you post in the forums. I just edited your post to remove a bunch of garbage xml that Word adds.

You can always manually add users to your site as members and manually set their newsletter subscriptions.

If you don't want to make them site members you could add an instance of the Newsletter Signup module to a private page and enter their email addresses but doing it that way they would have to approve it when they get the notification email about the subscription.

Best,

Joe

Re: Newsletter Subscription

Thanks for the advice on the newsletters, I will do just that.

With regards to copying from word, I have seen that you have commented to others on doing this in the past and so try not to do the same. What happened was that I sometime use word as a spellcheck by default and copied that word over. Apologies for the inconvenience, I know it is a bugbear of yours.
