I deleted something, want it back, it's still in the db

Hi Joe, and all y'all.  I messed up bigtime this morning, when I accidentally deleted every single download file (the skins) on my site (when I went to delete a "shared files" instance from a page, instead it deleted the Shared Files module from my entire site, it looks like).  Obviously I want to get them back, and the db is showing that the files are still there in the db, but it's showing folder ID of -1 for all of them.  Is there any easy way to get them back, or do I have to re-upload every single one?  ARGH!

Thx,

Andria

Re: I deleted something, want it back, it's still in the db

Hi Andria,

If you deleted it from the PageLayout.aspx page then it isn't really deleted, it is just removed from the page. You should be able to find it in Administration > Content Manager and then re-publish it on a page.

Folder Id -1 just means it is a root level file in shared files not in a folder.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: I deleted something, want it back, it's still in the db

Well, I didn't delete it from pagelayout.aspx; I deleted it online, in the "edit page" page, and even though in content manager it still shows up, and even when I go back to "edit page," it showing that it's still there ("Downloads" is the title for the shared files) it's just not there on the page, even if I hit the update button to publish it.  And on the "old skins" (the ones I made for an older version), it's still showing in the "edit page" page, but it doesn't show on the page at all.  what's going on with this?

I just updated to the new 2.3.6.5 a day or two ago, and this is the first I've seen of this, no idea what's going on!!

EEEKK!

Andria

PS: I just checked in FTP, and in the SharedFiles folder, the file "SharedFilesModule.ascx" is showing a date of 1/27/2011, even though I just updated the site, and in the zip file of the new version, the file date is 3/24/2011.  Do you think it's just a case of a file failing to transfer, and the older version is just causing some kind of malfunction in the newer version of Mojo?

Re: I deleted something, want it back, it's still in the db

PageLayout.aspx is the "edit page", so if it shows there it is not deleted.

Yes the file date seems to indicate that it failed to upload so it is probably causing an error and failing to load the control on the page. You could verify it in the log. I would upload that folder again.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: I deleted something, want it back, it's still in the db

Well, apparently it was just that particular file; the other two files in the folder showed a date of 5/14/2011, which is when I did the update, but for reasons known only to Filezilla, it didn't xfer the most important one!  ARGHH!!  And I always go to FZ's "failed transfers" tab and reset/requeue any that failed, but apparently this one didn't even show up there. But it's fixed now, thank you, sorry to be such a screeching alarmist, but it really wigged me out when I went to add some files and the sharedfiles thing wasn't even there!

I'm just thankful that Mojo is so strong; I had a serious hack of one of my Joomla sites last month, and had a long discussion about it with Arvixe's tech support, and they seem to feel that ASP.NET sites tend to be both stronger and less hacked, since they're usually more professional, and hence, I suppose, much better coded -- but after that hack, I get really freaked when I see anything strange on one of my sites -- anyone would, I suppose!

Thx much!!

Andria
