Blog entry on newsletter

Hi all,

About to ask a lame question but ppl are just raging on me about this that i've given up hope for them to forget about this...

So, is there any automated way to take the blog entry's and put them on the newsletter? It seems that copy/paste the resume and making a link is to hard -.- so if i'm missing something on mojoportal that implements this feature plz tell :p

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

The biggest problem with that is that html and css used in web pages is much different than html and css that works in email. So it is not so easy to take content formatted for web browsers and make it look good in email. Email clients work much differently than web browsers even if they are web based email and there is a lot of differences across different email clients, Outlook, gmail, hotmail, etc etc. So it is very challenging to compose html email that renders consistently and looks good.

Really the goal of a newsletter is to bring visitors back to your site. What I would do is put just links and snippets about your blog posts so that users can click the link in the newsletter and visit your blog to read the full article.

Best,

Joe

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

exactly my point joe...i've told them that it was a bit weird making it a automated process...and even a copy/paste of the site's blog resume can do what they want (just whit a bit of editing also on the copied text)...

but anyway going to try and convince them... btw about the token of unsubscribe, the only thing passing on the newsletter is the literall string #unsubscribe # :s anything i need to do to make this work? and how does this token work if i can ask :P

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

token replacement only happens when sending to the list not when sending a preview.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

Look for the file /Data/MessageTemplates/en-US-NewsletterVerificationEmailMessage.config

copy it and rename the copy to pt-PT-NewsletterVerificationEmailMessage.config

then you can translate it. If you send me the translated file I will include it in the next release.

Best,

Joe

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

hey joe! thanks alot... I was on that folder but i realized there was none saying newsletter and didn't even bother seeing the EN language :p

well my pt-PT language in the pt-BR modified :P pt-BR is way different then pt-PT but unfortunately our Portuguese language is now modifying itself to make a better agreement whit Brazilian language... I'll make a translate of this and send you and maybe later (when all is finished) i can send you a pt-PT translation of some resources

to which mail may i send it?

tks

Re: Blog entry on newsletter

For message template files you can just send it to me at joe dot audette at g mail dotcom.

If you want to translate pt-PT .resx files, I can setup an account for you to translate using the Amanuens service, then your work on translating resource files will sync with our source code repository every morning.

Let me know in your email if you would like to help with this and include your first and last name in the email so I can use that when I create the account for you at Amanuens.

Best,

Joe
