username-based url (create new url page based on username)

can we create new url page based on username? like the blogger or facebook sites --- www.blogrer.com/user1 or www.facebook.com/user1

http://www.mojoportal.com/Members/user1.aspx ----> http://www.mojoportal.com/Members/user1

or

http://www.mojoportal.com/MyPage.aspx -----> http://www.mojoportal.com/MyPage

please let me know.

thanks.

Re: username-based url (create new url page based on username)

Sounds like several questions here, the first is can we use extensionless urls, and the answer  is yes for CMS pages, blog posts etc, see the  linked article. But you should not use extra segments like /members/ in friendly urls in mojoportal as documented here.

However when you ask about making things like Facebook or blogger it sounds like you intend to let strangers have their own pages and edit content, and mojoPortal is not designed for that for reasons indicated at the bottom of our About page.

Best,

Joe

Re: username-based url (create new url page based on username)

joe, thanks for your reply.

i also do not want to let strangers have their own pages and edit content. so what if i just want to show the profile fields as shown in an example link - http://www.mojoportal.com/ProfileView.aspx?userid=8773 ??? i want like to omit "ProfileView.aspx?userid=8773" in the above link and just want to show this link http://www.mojoportal.com/8773...where "8773" could be username.... so is it possible?

Re: username-based url (create new url page based on username)

Its possible to manually create friendly urls like that in our Url Manager but internally mojoportal is still going to use/render the original url for links to the user profile.

Best,

Joe
