Event Calendar (& EC Pro) improvments

Event Calendar Pro is a very nice feature and I suggest to buy the license and download it in case you need to plan recurring events, booking/ticketing, etc..

The "standard" Event Calendar feature, which comes included in the mojoPortal deployment, is quite simple but useful.
I think that just by adding a few improvements (that could be added to Event Calendar Pro as well if not yet available) it would be more interesting and in line with similar features of competitor CMS platforms.

Here follow some suggestions for those who have interest and possibility to work on the feature code.

  • Adding a setting to "Hide event from calendar view ?"
This would allow to show a smaller calendar view, without event text or icons in it (that have a bad impact on the calendar view layout).
Note that selector .daywithevents { } in styledatacalendar.css let you assign specific style to days with events, then you can click on the day number to open the list view.
  • It would be nice to have height and width settings as well, to let you draw a smaller calendar (e.g. in the side column) like the one in the Blog feature.
  • Adding a link on the month name and/or a "Month View" link to open a list of events of current month (like the current day event list)
  • Adding a "Week View" link to open a list of events of current week
  • In the list view (by month, week or day), adding a link to the previous and the next (day, week or month) and a link to go back to the calendar view
  • Adding a link on each Event title to open the event detail from the list.
  • Adding an "edit" link besides the Event Title in order to change the event detail from the list (if user is authorized to do so)
  • Finally, Adding a setting to open the feature as calendar view or current month (or week, or day) list view.

Regards.
Diego
