Ajax Extension concept doesnot working inside the Feature Instance Settings

 Hi

    I created one ISettingsControl  for my custom feature. It will save the values entered by the user and it will be reflected in the custom feature. i need to add the ajax extensions concept to the button in the settings control to avoid postback. But if i place the button inside the <UpdatePanel> and <ContentTemplate>  the event doesnot trigger. My layout.master contain Scriptmanager as follows

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" EnablePageMethods="true" runat="server" />

            can anyone tell me the solution?
