Links data exchange

Hi,

I have built 2 different sites using this great tool (mojoportal), now I would like to share or copy the pages/data built as "Links" from one site to the other.

What would you suggest as the easiest method of merging these two Links pages together?
Or the best method of copying data from one to the other without losing any records?

Thanks
Phill

Re: Links data exchange

I dont think ther is a easy way to copy the data, but the most efficient way I can think is using a function in the database to copy the data between the two sites.

Re: Links data exchange

Hi Pill,

At the business logic view point two sites are independent completely and the only way to exchanging data between sites is using feeds. So you can add a feed manager module instance to one site and consume feed from another site.

Hope Helps,

Asad

Re: Links data exchange

Thanks guys,

I can see now that it is going to take considerable thought and preparation to get this correct...  I will ponder both your suggestions and read up on the documentation on each.

Thanks
Phill

Re: Links data exchange

Hi Phil,

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do but there is no sharing of data across sites. If you want to duplicate data in another site you would have to copy paste it, but making 2 sites with the same content is not good for the SEO of either site.

As Asad said, there is some possibility to share "some data" across sites, such as the blog in one site can expose a feed that can be consumed in another site in Feed Manager but this does not seem like what you are asking for.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Links data exchange

Hi Joe,

No you understand me perfectly you hit the nail on the head.  I would like to "share" the data in a "Links" page from one site to another.

I was just fishing in the hope that I could copy and XML file or Table from the DB and insert the data into the other XML or DB.Table,

Not to worry, thanks for the comback though.

Thanks
Phill
