suggestions for free generators for XML site maps for this untrained mind and these untrained hands of mine

If you have questions about using mojoPortal, you can post them here.

You may want to first review our site administration documentation to see if your question is answered there.

suggestions for free generators for XML site maps for this untrained mind and these untrained hands of mine

Hi there folks,

As I'm in the process of reorganization of my web site, I'm asking this wonderful community if you folks have any suggestions for free software that can generate site maps in XML format for subbmission to Bing and Google.  I'm not trying to be lazy, it's just that I've got a lot of pages, a lot of manual reworking to do already within the site itself, that I don't want the extra burden of having to whip through the lessons of learning the site map XML format and then botch it and make a mistake.  I've made so many mistakes already that I've got the rest of my admin crew laughing very hardily at me LOL.  Thanks a lot, everyone!

Katherine

I'm not sure if you are asking for help with a mojo site or another site, in mojo you have a direct address where and ashx handler make that for you, you can read the documentation here http://www.mojoportal.com/submitting-your-site-maps-to-google-and-bing.aspx.

If you want to implement this for another site you can look into  the code in the mojoportal\Web\SiteMap.ashx.cs

Hi Katherine,

German is correct, we have a document here explaining how to submit your site maps:

http://www.mojoportal.com/submitting-your-site-maps-to-google-and-bing.aspx

I updated the document this morning to make it more clear.

Best,

Joe

I'm aware of the .ashx address that can be used, but the issue is, remember what you said about Bing especially not allowing more than one of these .ashx maps?  Well, i'm asking if there's anything that will generate the xml as you demonstrate automatically so that I don't have to include every one of them by hand?  I'm just not as used to editing configuration files to obtain results as maybe some of you folks are.  or maybe I read it wrong?  Is it not correct that bing only allows one map, and to get more, I'd have to use the xml file?

Hi Katherine,

I believe Bing has removed that restriction. I will be writing a blog post on how to submit sites to Bing this week, so if you can wait a day or so I will have a good explanation of this for you.

Thanks,
Joe D.

That makes my day!  like I said earlier, no one needs to know about my mess-ups.  LOL!  I'll be most certainly checking the blog.  If only MS Outlook was a valid feed reader for this site.  I can't find the darn link to subscribe using that.  Again, I'm sorry for all the questions.  I swear I'm worse than my nemesis sometimes.
