modules tag in web.config file throw error

Hi all,

Recently I signed up with 1and1 shared hosting plan and tried to install mojoportal on the shared server.

I was getting the following error message.

"HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error"

"Config Error This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false"."

My question is that do I have to have the modules configured as in the default download package in the web.config. If I remove the entire <modules />, will the mojoportal site work?

Thanks!

dl

Re: modules tag in web.config file throw error

you should not remove modules

what version of mojoPortal?

what version of ASP.NET is your site configured for?

is it installed at a root site location or below another .NET app?

Re: modules tag in web.config file throw error

1. I installed the latest version as of 1 week ago.

2. dotnet 3.5

3. I could not tell. it is hosted on 1and1.com shared host site. the root directory is like x:\uxxxxxx\ where I installed the files, and I access it by access http://xxxx.com/

Anyway, I had cancelled the package, since the support won't change host configuration based on the error message.

Thank you for your help.
