HELP: Error Message first time i run default.aspx

Team,

Let me start out by saying thank you for any help that might be provided my way.

Ok issue is when i run the default page after the installation i receive the following information:

We're sorry but a server error has occurred while trying to process your request.

The error has been logged and will be reviewed by our staff as soon as possible. It is possible that the error was just a momentary hiccup and you may wish to use the back button and try again or go back to the home page.

I received a good message after installation originally:

Probing system...
File system permissions ok.
MySQL database connection ok.
database permissions are sufficient to alter schema.
database initial schema already exists.
database core schema is up to date.

Database PlatformMySQL

StatusYour installation is up to date.

Note: This page shows some information that is helpful during setup and upgrades but for security it would be best not to show any information when the system is up to date. You can disable setup and suppress all information on this page by setting DisableSetup=true in Web.config. When you need to upgrade, you can set this back to false. If you are logged in as Administrator setup will run and you will be able to see this page even if it is disabled in Web.config so you can easily leave it disabled and just login before upgrading. But if you are not logged in you will need to enable setup in Web.config.

Environment:

MySQL Version: 5.0.45

Microsoft .net 2.0 - 3.5

I have updated the MySQL connections strings and copied the appreciate files on to the server. I wish the error was a little more descriptive so i could trouble shoot a little better.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Gary

Re: HELP: Error Message first time i run default.aspx

Additional Information: (I now suspect it is related to not having SP1 installed on the server. Is there a version that does not require 3.5 sp1? What version would that be?)

Re: HELP: Error Message first time i run default.aspx

Hi,

We have target 3.5 SP1 for a long time now so you would have to use a very old version which I would not recommend. I don't know how far back you would have to go, I know that 2.2.7.8 was the last version of mojoPortal to target 2.0 .NET, but 3.5 SP1 was already out before we began targeting 3.5 so we pretty much targeted 3.5 SP1 when we stopped targeting 2.0.

Really though, any host who will not install the service pak is not a good host and I recommend either ask them to install it or find another host. 3.5 SP1 came out in 2008, and you can be sure there are security fixes in the SP and also from updates after SP1. I would not use a host that does not keep their servers updated.

Hope it helps,

Joe
