Feed Manager: userid and password settings

Hi Joe,

Feed Manager is a very useful feature, paricularly when used to aggregate in a landing page the "latest news" form Blogs and Forum within the current site.

This works well when those forums and blogs (and related feeds) are available for anonymous users.

In several sites, I also created bogs and forums in pages which are restricted to a community of registered users. Unfortunately this prevents the feed manages to have access to the feed of the blog and/or forum instance.

It would be a very useful setting to set-up UserID and Password allowed to access a feed that requires authentication (at feature instance level or, better, at feed level).

If entering UserId and Password is not that elegant, for the current site feeds only, it would also be fine to have the possibility to select one of the existing users or roles.

Thanks.

Diego

Re: Feed Manager: userid and password settings

Hi Diego,

RSS feeds don't support authentication so there is a problem with trying to expose RSS from a feature protected by roles.

I came up with a hack that can make it possible for the Feed Maanger to consume feeds from within the same site on protected pages, this was discussed a while back on a previous thread, maybe it will meet your needs.

Hope it helps,

Joe
