When enough isn't

Re: What is wrong with my search function?

Hi again

Some days has passed and I have not been able to find a solution to this missing search index creation. I'm simply running out of ideas and hints. I'm thankful for the efforts from you, though.

For now I have removed the search function from my site. But I do miss it ... sad

So if anyone can think of a solution ... please ....

Best regards
Lars

Re: What is wrong with my search function?

Good news!

My web hotel just made it and got me through. Now MojoPortal is indexing and the seach function works.

For others and for you Joe to be aware of if you come across similar situations:

- As Joe always points out there should be writing access for MojoPortal to the Data folder and all subfolders

- But what I didn't know was that MojoPortal (when trying to build files in e.g. the index folder) connects as NETWORK_SERVICES and not the user with my passwords.

- In medium trust as I run that access is blocked. Finally my webhotel gave me two options: 1. Get the MojoPortal developers to change so that you can add your ftp-password ... or ... 2. Run a special file on the webhotel that gives NETWORK_SERVICES permanent writing access. I did the later and now it works.

- But maybe, Joe, you can consider option 1 also

Anyway - I'm a happy man now .... and thanks a lot, Joe for all you help with this and other things before smiley.

Best regards

Lars

Re: What is wrong with my search function?

Hi Lars,

Glad your host was able to help.

It is not possible for mojoPortal to decide what user context it runs in. It runs as whatever user is the Identity on the application pool, often by default this is NETWORK SERVICE, but mojoPortal code does not get to decide it, it is determined by IIS configuration.

Best,

Joe
