Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi Joe, we have a user who originally wanted her child site to be based on WordPress (I think mostly because that's what she's familiar with). After we demoed mojoPortal for her, she agreed that it would work for her needs as well. However, she is still not fully satisfied with mojoPortal's slideshow feature. What  she really wants is an enhancement that will allow moving around manually within the slideshow elements.

The example slideshow sites she sent me are: The San Francisco Public Library (clickable numbers for each element) and the Washington D.C. Public Library (thumbnail images for each element).

On a semi-related note, I think it would be most awesome if you could enhance feed manager to include a slideshow of elements display mode.

As always, thanks for your attention!

Jamie

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi all,
I'm pretty new to mojoPortal and I'm facing the same issue. The actual slider seems to be based on the jQuery Cycle Plugin, that natively fit my needs through NextSelector and PrevSelector parameters, but I don't know how can I use them in mojoPortal.

BTW, I'm sorry that I'm not yet introduced myself but I didn't find the right place to do it.

Thanks for delivering such a great product!
Marco

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

This has been enhanced since I posted the question. In the slide show part of the HTML module settings, mark the "Enable Slideshow Pager" box and you'll be able to directly navigate between slides.

If you want to try a more advanced slide show, Rick Hubka has a custom feature and directions for integrating Nivo Slider into mojoPortal. I think it's still a work in progress, however.

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi Jamie,
thanks for your directions, I've already tried to Enable the slideshow pager, but unfortunately my customer want just a couple of command to do next and previous rather than having a standard numbered pager.
However I've just seen the demo at the link you posted and it seems to do exactly what I want! I'm going to try it!

Thanks again,
Marco

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi all,

I have converted Rick's slideshow into a server control and Joe is looking into incorporating this into Mojo I believe.

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Thanks Matt, I'd forgotten about that! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it in the core.

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi All,
I've installed the control as reported by Rick Hubka is his site, and it works well, however, the control isn't customizable at all, and this make it unusable in my scenario. (need to use it as an image slider without automatic rotation)

Actually I'm trying to put a Nivo Slider or maybe a jCarousel into a standard HTML Content within a mojoPortal page, but... isn't as easy as I expected (still reading documentation, however).

Matt, I've read the discussions here and a customizable control look really really interesting.
Could you share the code ? I'm new to mojoPortal but perhaps I can try to install it on my site!

Thanks in advance,
Marco

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi Marco,

My nivoslide user control for mojo allowed you to get the slider to display all the images in a folder. I didn't expose all the nivo options. However Joe has just incorporated my code into mojo and it looks like this will be fully configurable in the next release (I guess).

Am happy to send over my code if you can't wait. Let me know your email address.

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi Matt,
thank you very much for your support, my mail is marco dot casamento at hotmail dot it, if it's not difficult for you I'd like to see your code, because I've tried to do something similar (reading a given folder content) but I've encountered some issues (how to configure it ??) so I can surely learn something from your code.
However, I can wait, it's not urgent and by the moment I'm going with a custom control that insert  the easyslider control in my site that I "configure" by code

Re: Enhanced "slideshow of elements"

Hi Marco,

You can see the version of the NivoSlider control included in mojoPortal in our source code repository here.

This will be in the next release of mojoPortal.

Best,

Joe
