Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

Hi, I'm having more problems installing MojoPortal under medium trust (in a shared hosting environment). On a local installation I've set <trust level="Medium" originUrl="" /> in my web.config file, and commented out the sections relating to NeatUpload. However when I edit the content on a page, try to insert an image, in the Image Properties popup select Link-->Browse Server the resulting popup window gives the error:

XML Request Error: Internal Server Error (500)

I've seen other posts which seem to indicate this being a permissions issue, but as far as I can tell all permissions are fine, the folders under GelleryImages have been created, and most importantly when I comment out <trust level="Medium" originUrl="" /> the upload feature works fine.

Is this something to do with me commenting out the wrong sections of my web.config file relating to NeatUpload? Do you have details of what exactly should be changed when running under medium trust?

Any help greatfully appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

Hi Matt,

Can you look in Data/currentlog.config and see if there is a more detailed error message?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The currentlog.config file exists but there's no data in it...

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

If an error happens it should log there.

I wonder if it is possible that the permissions were correct which allowed it to create the log file and the folders under GalleryImages but then later the permissions were changed?

What browser and version are you using? Do you get the same symptom in IE and Firefox?

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

I've just done a clean install and tried it again. I thought it might be an issue with setting up permissions after installing but I gave Iuser full permissions before logging in and I still get the error. Is it something to do with not having the folders under GalleryImages created automatically? They're not there in the 2.1.5.1 download, and aren't created when I first log in so I create them manually, does this mean something else might be missing?

In answer to your questions I'm using IE 6 and don't have Firefox installed. Does this all work ok when you install forcing the medium trust setting? Will it help if I send you my web.config file?

Thanks,
Matt

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

I'm in the middle of some other work at the moment and also need to run out for a few hours but I'll try it locally later today and see if I can reproduce the problem. I'll post again after I do that. In the meantime your site is working other than image uploads right?

The reason folders beneath GalleryImages are not created ahead of time is because they go in sub folders by moduleID and moduleID is not known until the instance of the module is created, so if moduleID is 32 you would have
Data/GalleryImages/32/FullSizeImages
Data/GalleryImages/32/Thumbnails
Data/GalleryImages/32/WebImages

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

Hi Matt,

I'm so sorry I got distracted and forgot about this. I had intended to try and resolve this before making a release.
The good news is I am able to replicate the problem on my local machine so I should be able to come up with a fix.

I'll post again when I have this resolved and will make an incremental release with the fixed version.

Again very sorry I let this one slip through the cracks.

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

I was able to come up with a solution that fixed the image upload in FCKeditor, but there is still an issue in the Gallery Module. Dean Brettle, the author of NeatUpload is looking into it. I'll let you know when we have a fix.

This was all working before, I'm thinking they tightened something a little in a recent security update for .NET 2.0. There were some updates in November.

I'll post again when I know more.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Installing v2.1.5 under Medium trust 2

Thanks a lot for this Joe, sorry I haven't got back sooner - works been particularly hectic for me the last couple of weeks. I haven't installed the updates yet but will do as soon as I get the chance.

Thanks again, Matt
