"Understanding the CSS file" does not help

I have installed the mojoportal with mysql db. Now i want to make some changes in the skin like background color, padding, spacing etc. The path of the currently selected skin is \wwwroot\Data\Sites\1\skins\styleshout-techmania.

I tried making changes in the style.css file in this folder but nothing worked. I was surprised to see no change in the portal even after deleting all the css files, theme.skin and style.config file from this folder. But moving layout.master does affect the portal layout.

Can someone let me know what's the solution as the documentation available on this site is of no help to me.

You are right, as our skinning system has evolved over time some of the documentation is out of date and badly in need of updating.

I've updated the article Creating mojoPortal Skins. Please see if it helps you now. I will try to find time soon to update more of the skinning articles.
