Purpose of <a id="startcontent"> tag?

Hey guys,

In skinning a couple sites, I've run across a <a id="startcontent"></a> in the Layout.Masters of the skins I've been using as the base (mitcheson-business3, for instance). What purpose does this tag serve? Is it required by mojoPortal?

Thanks!

Duane

Re: Purpose of <a id="startcontent"> tag?

Hi Duane,

It is not required, it is an accessibility feature. Google or Bing "skiplinks" for more info, it is basically an anchor to make it possible to skip over navigation links, it is used in conjunction with the <portal:SkipLink ID="SkipLink1" runat="server" /> which creates a hidden link at the top that jumps to the startcontent anchor. It is visible when the user agent has disabled css which is sometimes done in screen readers or other assitive technology.

Best,

Joe

Ah, Thanks, Joe! Guess I better comment it back in, huh? :)

Best always!
