Where to jump in with doing skins?

Well, I got my mojoportal up and configured, now I want to change the design. Where is a good place to jump in?

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

I thought I'd ask before I started, but I jumped into the files in Data/skins, as well as the associated style sheets, and I am doing okay. I have one question. Is there a way to associate an ALT property with my main logo image tag? My site design relies on the image for both the logo and the name, and this is only good for text only browsers and blind people with the alt tag property.

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

In the current release there isn't a place for setting the alt text of the site logo but I agree it should be there and will get that into the next release.
If you create any cool skins please send or post a link I'd love to see.  One of these days I plan to get more creative myself.

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

My Skin is looking pretty good. My site will be up in a week, I am still designing all the odds and ends, and filling it with some starting content. I will send you a link when I am done.

Content Management Question

Well, my skin is nearing done and I'm setting up my content, and I have a big question I was wondering if you could help me with.
Once I have created a page in
Admin~>Add/Edit Pages
Is there a way I can add a 'module' I have already created and filled out?

For instance, suppose I made a top level page called 'writing' and it was the parent page for 25 or so other pages, which were my short stories. On the Left Panel  of this page, I added an HTMLContent  with links to my five top stories and brief descriptions, and below that in the left panel 20 links to my favorite short stories by others, and below that several links to my favorite authors.  I wanted this writing menu to appear in the page 'writing', and on the left panel of all of its 25 children, without individually adding each link to each new page I add. Can this be done?

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

Not currently, but your scenario gives me an idea for good improvements. I was already planning a feature to move modules from one page to another, but it would also be good to be able to show the same module on multiple pages.

I will implement that in a future release.

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

This is what was called "connected postings" in fairly old Microsoft CMS 2002.
As nice as complicated idea. =)

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

I just payed attention at the date of your post... Did you do that? Maybe, I should move to the newer site and to look there?

Re: Where to jump in with doing skins?

I'm not sure what you are asking as this thread has several topics, but if your question is can I publish a content instance on more than one page the answer is yes, that is implemented. See the Content Manager in the Administration section.
