Web Farm - Windows Azure

Hi Joe,

I was reading your documentation topic Capacity Planning and in it you state:

"Beyond that you can look at scale out strategies like web farms. We have plans for an add on product to facilitate use of mojoPortal in web farm environments targeted for release in the first or second quarter of 2009."

Just wondering if anything new regarding web farms and mojoPortal is in place, or in planning?

Also, now that SQL Azure is available, do you have any insight as to how difficult it would be to get mojoPortal running on Windows Azure?

Thanks!

Re: Web Farm - Windows Azure

Hi Ed,

mojoPortal may work in some existing farm scenarios that synchronize files across the nodes.

I have no progress to report as of yet in implementing support for web farms that don't have that ability, its still in the planning stage.

Azure is on my radar and watching it mature but I'm not in a hurry for it and I have not yet done any exploratory on what it would take to support it.

There also exist opportunites to make linux appliances for the Amazon cloud using Suse Studio but its not my top priority.

Eventually I will get to these things, but the vast majority of mojoPortal users are not in need of web farm support so following the 80/20 rule my priority is adding value for the most users.

Best,

Joe

Thanks Joe!

I fully understand putting time where it is most valuable.

If I do anything on this front with mojoPortal I will keep you posted.

Re: Web Farm - Windows Azure

Wanted to put my plug in for mojoPortal on Azure.

There may be some potential here for pulling in additional users, like myself.
