changes in layout.master not rendered

changes in layout.master not rendered

Hi,

usually my changes in the layout.master were rendered. But now I changed the content of the divRight and nothing happens.
Than I commented out the whole divRight - no reaction. I commented out the whole content of the wrapcenter ...

Then I cut out the layout.Master from the skin folder - the layout still remains Surprised.

At last I put it back to the folder and add the divAltContent2 - and this change is rendered Surprised.

Can anybody explain this?

Btw.: Although I usually don't need to, I touched the Web.config after each change.

Hi Matthias,

If you make a change in layout.master that causes an error then the error will be cuaght and logged and a failsafe master page is used from a different location to keep it from completely breaking a site. If you chop out things that are required like divRight it will cause an error.
