Can forums be set up to send emails to participants?

I created a family web page that has a forum where people can interact.  I have seen other web pages where an individual who is participating in the forum will receive an email if a comment has been posted there.  They can also reply to the email, and the reply will show up in the forum.  This would be great because there are several discussions going on (political, primarily) that many people do not want to be included in.  This type of feature would make it easy for members of the web page to choose what they want to be involved in and what they choose to avoid.

If this is a feature, or if anyone knows how to initiate it, I would love to know.

Thanks,

Ray

Re: Can forums be set up to send emails to participants?

Hi Ray,

Yes, users can subsrcibe to email at the forum level, on the page that contains the forum it has a link for "Edit Notifications" and it has indicators next to each forum whether you are subscribed. For example on this site the forum page http://www.mojoportal.com/forums.aspx has these links. I am subscribed to allforums so I got notification of your post.

Note that it does require that you have valid smtp settings.

Hope it helps,

Joe
