Not easy is to add already existing contents

Hi Joe,

I want to discuss on an little ergonomic pb I may found.

When using screen "Content for Page ...." (Admin/PageLayout.aspx) to compose a page, it is possible

* easily to create new content
* easily to move content from pane to pane

but one not easy thing is to add an already existing content (unless I'm doing wrong)

to do so, I need to return on the Administration Menu, then select Content Manager, then select Publish/Delete link of the content I want to add, then find again my page in the "Publishing for ..." screen, edit the publishing state, and set up the parameters. .. and that's not all...
While setting up publishing parameters, it is difficult to set the Order value which depends on other content instances of the concerned page.
So after those differents steps, I need to return to the Layout editing page (hoping it is present on my main menu -only 2 clicks!- or using again Administration Menu | Add/Edit Page | Select the Page and click on the Pencil).
And so on

My suggestion is to change the Admin/LayoutPage by adding something user friendly to pick-up existant content module.

suggestion : having a simple way to pick up a Content Instance then return to PageLayout screen.
Using a [+] button near the destination pane. It would lead to a instance selection list screen (a modal popup?), and return to the page layout after doing/canceling the insert.

Moreover in such a way, multiple insert in a pane could also be easy to do

Best regards,

Thomas.

Re: Not easy is to add already existing contents

I agree with you,  a lot needs to be done for better content management and workflow. All in due time.

Best,

Joe
