ALT3 will have the with of the left column plus the center column.

ALT 4 will have the with of the center column plus the right column.

Something like this will improve the content layout viriety greatly. I understand that some people make poor choices like forum on top with gallery on the right news on the left blah blah blah. But if ALT 1 and ALT 2 exist why not the other 2.
