Creating a Blogroll

First off, many thanks for creating what so far seems to be an AWESOME, easy to use product (I've tried SO many other CMSs that look cool but when I get into them I find they either don't do what I want or I need to be a developer (which I'm not) to tweak them to do things the way I want them to - so far so good with mojoPortal ).

The question I have is around blogs (I did take a look through the blog admin doco and also did a search but couldn't find anything).

I want to be able to give my users the option of having their own blog. Then on the "Blogs" home page I'd like to have a blogroll i.e. a listing of the most recent blog postings, most recent first. On the left of the blog page I'd like to have a simple listing of all the available blogs on the site (not decided whether I just want a list of everything or whether to try a separate them by technology as that could get complicated if folks blog about more than one technology but that's one for me to work out).

I'd really appreciate any thoughts, comments or pointers.

If mojoPortal provides successful in my testing then of course beers will be forthcoming - thanks once again

Re: Creating a Blogroll

Hi Cliff,

When I think of a blog roll its a list of links to other blogs that a user can put on their blog page. We don't currently have that built into the blog, but I've been thinking of adding an editable section in the same column with categories and archives where a user could put links or whatever they want.

It sounds like your definition of blog roll is a little different. You could easily create a "Blogs" page and then put a links module or even a plain html module with links to the different blogs but there is nothing to do this for you automatically. You can also use a Feed Manager to aggregate the blogs together by adding the feed of each blog to the Feed Manager, thats what I have done on the Community Blogs page. You can consume both external feeds and feeds from blogs within the site.

Hope it helps,

Joe
