Advantage Database Server

Hi,

How difficult would it be to add Advantage Database Server to the list of supported databases?

Re: Advantage Database Server

I've never heard of "Advantage Database Server", but adding additional databases is not trivial nor is maintaining support as things change. Its a big commitment to support a database so anyone who wants to implement support for a new one should be aware of that. I personally don't have any immediate plans to support more dbs, I support 5 now and its all I'm willing to commit to at the moment. If someone else wants to implement support for another one thats fine but don't expect me to maintain it.

Best,

Joe

Re: Advantage Database Server

Hi Joe,

Thats fair enough really. ADS in not that well known. I suppose if you move completely to subsonic, the job of maintaining them would be easier.

Re: Advantage Database Server

To be honest, I've lost my initial enthusiasm for SubSonic and don't plan to use it going forward for anything except the scaffold for managing the db.

I found I didn't like the overhead and memory use for SubSonic is high due to a lot of string creation and concatenation. I'm happy enough with my Codesmith templates and generating real sql for each db. I also find it easier to solve problems when I can just go look at the sql statements.

Best,

Joe
