Re: Cannot Login after install

I do not know what happened, but what I typed did not show up . . .

I cannot login after a new install, there is no error and I am redirected to the sample home page, but the sign in link is still in the upper right hand corner . . . so I tried to directly type in an admin URL, and a sign in just continually keeps me on the sign in page. Nothing apparent to me in the logs, cookies in Firefox and IE, db tables look fine, etc.

Please help, I am trying to evaluate systems for my company, and would love to really give mojoportal a complete look.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cannot Login after install

The things that can cause this are either misconfigured IIS or something that blocks cookies like privacy guard software or sometimes I've heard of google toolbar causing problems.

In IIS make sure the Directory Security tab has both Anonoymous and Windows Integrated Security checked. If you don't have mojoPortal set as a root site but instead as a Virtual directory like localhost/mojo then make sure there is not an additional Web.config file in the folder above (which corresponds to localhost) as this could interfere.

If IIS looks ok then try to isolate the problem. Does it happen both in IE and in Firefox? Does it happen if you use a browser on a different machine?

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Cannot Login after install

Hmmmm . . . I have tried everything, I am not sure what the problem is . . . I set up all permissions, double checked all IIS settings, etc. checked it on a Windows XP machine with IE 7, Firefox, Safari, and on a Vista machine with IE 7, and on a Mac OS 10.5 machine on Firefox and Safari.

I have siteinfinity and dotnetnuke (two other options I am exploring), working properly. I am actualy quite perplexed. I am very interested in this solution, otherwise I would just move on! Anyhow, any help would be appreciated. I really do not want to uninstall everything and reinstall, but the time I have spent on this problem, it may be faster. Still, if that does not fix the problem . . . I think I would pull my hair out!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cannot Login after install

Please tell more about your environement. Is it windows server or xp? How is the site configured as a root site or a virtual directory ie http://localhost would be a root site and http://localhost/mojoportal would be a virtual directory. If its a virtual directory make sure the security tab on the virtual directoy is configured for anonymous and windows, if its a site do that at the site level.

Its possible these other things like dnn or sitefinity are interfering. If mojoportal is installed as a virtual directory like localhost/mojoportal, look in the folder that corresponse to localhost. Is there another Web.config file there? If so remove it as it is interfering.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Cannot Login after install

I think all the web applications in one environment were making the difference. I do not know how exactly, I am not that good :-). Anyhow, I installed mojoportal on another box (my mac that is running vista in boot camp), and the install was smooth as silk, and everything worked as I believe it should.

For what it is worth, the problem occurred on XP as a virtual directory, along with dotnetnuke, sitefinity, and DXperience samples, all as Virtual Directories. I had problems with the others as well, but was able to troubleshoot them and get them to work. I think I was just asking too much of IIS and XP!

Anyhow, thanks for the help, sorry it has taken so long to get back to this. And, as I stated in the e-mail, I will be in touch about mojoportal and how it could work for my company.
