Prevent changing solution once set

Post here if you have questions about creating SuperFlexi Solutions.

The SuperFlexi documentation is very thorough, so you might want to start there.

Prevent changing solution once set

It seems like there should be a lock on a superflexi select solution option/dropdown once that is saved. Too often clients go in and change from one thing to another and as you know that breaks stuff and probably does terrible things to the database.

Even as an admin I'd rather not even have the option to make that change once it's saved. Better to just delete and add new. Not sure if there's a way to lock that up/disable once set?

Re: Prevent changing solution once set

Hi Eric,

We could probably make some sort of control to lock it, with a button to unlock and a warning prompt.

I'm pretty sure you can switch between solutions without losing data but I'd have to test it again to be sure. Also, some solutions are compatible with each other; vertical tabs and horizontal tabs are one example however with the razor view functionality we've built, those two solutions could become one solution once we build the module level solution settings feature.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Prevent changing solution once set

It does seem to break stuff if you switch around to different solutions once you have data in place. Not a huge thing, but I've had clients try and change solutions from one to another and wonder where their data went.

On this page it says:
https://www.mojoportal.com/docs/superflexi

Because of the way the stored content interacts with the solution, it is a very bad idea to change what Solution a SuperFlexi module is using after you've already created your items. Don't do that unless you're sure you know what you're doing. Instead, unpublish the module and create a new one to add a different type of solution to your page.

Well, maybe I should read our own docs. LOL
