Use of master page

Hello,

I do not want to use two skins as u say. I want to use single skin but in that want to change header image for home page and other header image for other pages. So, it is possible by using single layout? One layout for home page and other layout for other pages present under in that. Using only single skin it is possible that for home page there is one layout.master page and for other layout.master page for other pages.
