Site Copy

Good Morning,

I copied our production to a test site.  I have made changes to the user.config and web.config.  What other changes do I have to make so that they are not updating each other? It is currently happening.

Thank you,

Bob

Re: Site Copy

Can you define what you mean by "updating each other?" Typically, production and test sites should be placed in two separate installations (file locations) and two separate databases. This would preclude any possibility of file or database data getting intermingled. The only thing you'd need to watch out for at that point would be hard coded URLs that point to the full production site URL. This could cause someone on the test site (for instance) to be redirected to production without noticing.

Re: Site Copy

If I change the logo on the production site, it changes on the test site.

Re: Site Copy

Where have you changed the logo of your site?

Have you only replaced the picture? Than it could be that your test page still link to the logo of the production site.

Re: Site Copy

Sorry for the long delay on replying.   We actually figured it out. It was a link pointing to the production server.  We fixed.  Human error. LOL
