I've noticed that most modern blogs have Calendars, Archives, and Categories. 

The main item that I believe is missing the Blog Module is ability to page through all the previous posts not displayed by the "Entries to Show" setting.

Most modern Blogs have a list of page numbers, or my personal favorite - links for "Next Page" or "Previous Page".

Just an idea.... hope you had a good vacation....
