Site Settings - delete site

Hi,

I am missing the feature to delete a site, if you are hosting multiple sites.

It would be nice that you would be able to delete a site from the administration menu.

It should do the following:

Delete all related information (blog, forum, user entries etc) for this site and of course erase the directory too.

Re: Site Settings - delete site

Deleting a site is possible. Look in Web.config for a seting to enable it. It doesn't delete the folder though.

The reason this is disabled by default is to prevent accidental deletion which could be very bad and is not possible to recover. Enable this and its your own fault if you delete a site by mistake.

Hope it helps,

Joe

Re: Site Settings - delete site

Is it possible to disable (take offline) parent/primary site, and be able to work on child sites?

Re: Site Settings - delete site

If you are using the latest version of mojoPortal, we have a feature (a checkbox under Security tab in Site Settings page) to "Close" a site.

When a site is closed only users in the Admins and Content Admins roles can navigate (work on) the site, all other users see a "closed message".

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Site Settings - delete site

Hi Joe,

Similar question - can I flip site 2 with site 1 so site 2 is parent and then delete the old parent? I don't have much set-up so if that is not a possibility I am wondering how to migrate site 2 to site 1 before deleting. Could I simply update some database tables or is that wishful thinking.

Thanks,

Barb

Re: Site Settings - delete site

Hi Barb,

The only difference between the master site and child sites is the IsServerAdminSite column in mp_Sites table. If you set it to 1 in site 2 and set site 1 to 0 it will make site 2 the master site. Then you can delete the site 1 data. There is info about how to delete sites from the UI in the FAQ.

Hope that helps,

Joe
