Recent Content feature not working

Hi, I have a site running 2.4.0.8 (built from source code), on MSSQL 2012, Server 2012.

A Recent Content feature shows two items from many days ago, and refuses to show any more recent changes (in html content, forums, blog etc). I have rebuilt the search index successfully - searches work correctly.

There's nothing in the system log.

I have tested on the demo site and it works correctly there.

Any ideas?

Re: Recent Content feature not working

have you checked the settings in the recent content to make sure it includes those features

also note that html content and blog have a checkbox in the edit page whether to include in recent content because some edits don't merit it becoming new content

Re: Recent Content feature not working

The settings on the Recent Content feature do include Articles, Forums, Blogs. None of my posts in blog or html have "Exclude From Recent Content?" checked.

I have found that two completely new pages (with new HTML features) did make it into the Recent Content, but changes to existing HTML and forums/blogs have not.

Changing other feature settings does have an effect, but nothing can make it show the hundreds of changes that have been made in the last two weeks. Very odd. I wonder if this is something to do with building the site from source, though we did pull at the 2408 tip.

Any other tips for diagnosing this in the production environment?

Re: Recent Content feature not working

O hang on this could be a permissions thing. The items that have appeared are visible to all users. All the things that have not appeared are restricted to certain roles. Would that explain it?  Is the feature only ever going to include content that is public, regardless of the status of the current user?

Yes I think I've confirmed this on the demo site.

Aside - the duplication issue is still present. I edited the html content feature once, and this is from the RSS feed and showing on the page:

Re: Recent Content feature not working

Thanks for confirming.  It would be very nice if this could be role sensitive, but I appreciate the RSS feed could only include public content.

I re-edited my post above to note the duplication issue, previously noted here, in case there's anything can be done about this.
