SSL started to misbehave

I have been using SSL on an installation of mojoportal for some time now. This site also has some of my clients sites as sub sites.

Unfortunately things recently have stopped working properly. The main site I can log in as administrator OK , however did not like a lot of links and content embedded in the site that has https and so these have had to be removed to get it to work.

But more is the issue with the sub sites, where when logging in I get messaged that the connection is untrusted such as :

www.advocateevents.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.smartcowmarketing.com, smartcowmarketing.com, ecom.smartcowmarketing.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

As far as I am aware nothing has changed on the site recently and the certificate is valid for another year.

I have gone in to the user.config to make sure that it has the following

<add key="Site1-SSLIsAvailable" value="true" />

<add key="Site9-SSLIsAvailable" value="false" />

for all but the main site.

Any thoughts as to what is causing the issue and what can resolve it.
