Change URL of subsite?

Hello,

Is there a way to change the URL of a subsite?

for example current url is http://domain-name.com/plastic

want to make it: http://domain-name.com/plastics

I tried changing it in

Administration Menu > Site List > Subsite > Site Title

and

Administration Menu > Site List > Subsite > Folder Site Mapping Tab

I added a new folder map so it currently shows these in the list:

plastic
plastics

However only the original /plastic works

Thanks,

Pierre

Re: Change URL of subsite?

you should change it in the folder mapping, and remove the old folder name so there is only one folder mapped to the site. After that you may also need to touch web.config file or recycle the application pool to clear the cache. Then it should work.

Hope that helps,

Joe

Re: Change URL of subsite?

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your help thus far...

I deleted the first folder mapping as you indicated, then I added a line to web.config and saved it.

However going to the new /plastics url yielded me a 404 error,

Going to the old /plastic url gave me a blank white screen.  So in the interim I deleted my folder mapping and re-added the mapping for /plastic which got me the site back.

In your post you mention "or recycle the application pool to clear the cache".

Is this something you need server control to achieve, or is there a way for me to do this via FTP?

Thanks,

Re: Change URL of subsite?

touching web.config file will recycle the app

When I test changing the folder name by adding a new one and deleting the old one it works fine for me.
