Newsletter not sent

I can receive newsletter subscription confirmation email from my site, and I can also send newsletter preview email, but when I send newsletter to subscribers (myself is on the list as well), I didn't receive any email, not in my junk folder either. I set SMTP settings in user.config file. Did I miss anything else?

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Re: Newsletter not sent

Never mind. Arvixe.com is very slow when sending bulk emails, I guess. It took about 30 minutes for me to get the newsletter.

Re: Newsletter not sent

I'm also using Arvixe so I am interested in your comments.
What do you mean by "bulk"?

- How many emails did you send ?
- How long did it take to send all the emails?

Thanks

Ken

Re: Newsletter not sent

Currently I have 42 subscribers including myself. I just sent out a newsletter and it took about 30 minutes for me to get the newsletter. I thought there was something wrong with my SMTP settings, but it turned out not the case.

Re: Newsletter not sent

The documentation suggests to use another mail service if the amount of emails are large. https://www.mojoportal.com/sending-bulk-email

Re: Newsletter not sent

Wow! That really is slow for only 42 newsletters.

My main site has over 8000 users and whilst I don't send bulk emails very often, the hosting service has suggested that I warn them if I plan to send more than 7000 emails in bulk. (not a mojoPortal site and not Arvixe).
And I usually get emails from my site's forum within 15  seconds of making a post.

Earlier today, I was demonstrating my prototype mojoPortal/Arvixe site to a potential client.
The response time was awful. (20+ seconds to get an initial response from my site and a similar time for each page view)

Makes me think that I should be very careful about what  I put on Arvixe!

Thanks for the info.

Ken

Re: Newsletter not sent

Hi Ken and Jeffrey,

If you're interested in a hosting company that not only truly understands mojoPortal but also cares about how its customers sites respond, check out i7MEDIA. We don't overload our servers and we are very skilled with mojoPortal.

Thanks,
Joe D.

Re: Newsletter not sent

Ken, if you are using a shared personal hosting plan with Arvixe, then you cannot expect the performance to be superb. I upgraded my plan from BusinessClass ASP to BusinessClass ASP Pro during this Thanksgiving. Since Pro is more expensive, I figure there would be fewer customers competing resources. It turned out I am right. My sites load faster than before.
