Can't Install MojoPortal 2.4

  • What operating system were you running when the bug appeared?
  • What database platform is your site using?
  • What version of mojoPortal are you running?
  • What version of .NET do you use?
  • What steps are necessary to reproduce the issue? Compare expected results vs actual results.

It's actually MSSQL on Net 4.0. Unfortunately, nothing is working. I followed instructions on MojoPortal, but the site is still registered as 2.3.9.7.

Hi Tony,

Have you browsed to /setup/default.aspx? If so, and nothing changes, you aren't uploading the files correctly.

Be sure you are uploading the files from within the wwwroot folder in the zip to the root of your website. A way to be sure you are doing this correctly is to extract the files from the zip to a location on your harddrive, add a file named test.html with something like <h1>test</h1> inside to the wwwroot folder and then upload all of the files to the root of your website. Finally, browse to http://www.yoursite.url/test.html, if you see TEST in great big text, you are uploading the files to correct location. If you get a 404, you're uploading to the wrong location.

Also, be sure you are using a good FTP software like FileZilla which shows you all of the files uploaded and the success or failure of each file.

I've done everything you asked, but never the test.html file. I've been using FileZilla to upload the files every time. This is the first where nothing worked. I don't know if it's because our site got hacked recently.

Uploaded 2.4 files via FileZilla again and it's still 2.3.9.7.

Should I just use 2.3.9.8 instead of 2.4? Could that be the problem?

The url http://www.parentjobnet.org/test.html is returning a 404. Unless you already removed the test.html file, you are not uploading the files to the correct location.

mojoPortal upgrades include all previous schema changes so you do not need to use 2.3.9.8.

Tony, please update your account on this site with a working email address. Your hotmail address is bouncing with mailbox unavailable.

I keep un-subscribing you from the forum email because of these bounces.

All my email addresses work though. I remember you sent an email to me through Gmail directly and it worked. I think it's because I'm logging in through Facebook. 

Can you delete this account?

do you have any other working email address besides your domain email and hotmail? 

the problem is not caused by logging in with facebook and we don't want to delete your account (remember that your purchase history is connected to your account so we don't want to lose that), we just want to update it with an email address that can receive mail from us.

I know your domain email works from gmail but for some reason it doesn't work from other places. If you don't have any other email address we can use I'll just keep unsubscribing you to reduce the bounced messages.

Hi all,

I worked this out with Tony via email. For some reason his hosting provider had duplicated the 'wwwroot' directory in his Hosting Space so he was uploading to what he thought was the correct location but it wasn't. His site is now running mojo 2.4.
