Mojoportal capitalization problem (how can i force all lower)?

Hello,

I have a problem with my website, maybe someone here had this same problem and can help me...

I don't want capitalization in URL, i never used it.

I have a multisite:

www telecomhall com

with /br for portuguese site, and /es para spanish.

But the website is facing a very strange behavior: sometimes when i click a link for 'br' or 'es' site, i get it capitalized.

To see the problem please type:

www

telecomhall

com

/

br

/

Note: i've include 'force capitalization' keys in web.config

Re: Mojoportal capitalization problem (how can i force all lower)?

On Windows web servers urls are not case sensitive.

It looks to me like you have the folder mapping in Administration > Site Settings as capital letters therefore the menu links have /BR/ rather than /br/

There is nothing in mojoPortal that changes the case so if you want it lower case then make it lower case in the folder mapping

Re: Mojoportal capitalization problem (how can i force all lower)?

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, i have created it low, i used 'br' to create portuguese site.

As there were no other clues, i tried do 301 redirect. But it gave me a loop.

So i fixed (remove 301 redirect in br site), and create a redirection in base site (.com).

But seems it doesn't work.

If you do a serach for RRC RAB in google, you'll see BR site indexed... :( (instead of br).

I really don't know what to do, so if someone have any suggestion, please help.

Googling it, i have found a suggestion to use 301, and also configure your web server to map lowercase urls to uppercase.

Would it be a solution? (ask my web ISP to do it?)

Thanks.

Re: Mojoportal capitalization problem (how can i force all lower)?

if you make changes in your site it may take a little while before google gets updated, eventually they will crawl your site again and update the index, it should not be a big problem, the cannonical url in the page meta data will be lower case and google will see that when they crawl your site.
