Remember the expanded section of the Accordion in a global content

I use an Accordion template in a global HTML content. The HTML content is included in the left column of multiple pages. Each section entry of the accordion is linked to a page. I noticed that the global content can not remember the section/panel clicked. For example, from page 2, I click and expand section 3, page 1 launches, and the accordion always has the 1st panel/section expanded. Is there any workaround to let the accordion in the global html content remember the clicked/expanded section/panel? Thanks
