Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

You'll need to talk to your mail server admin, it is rejecting that email address and saying it is not valid. The same thing is happening on forum notification emails sent to your address from this site, the message bounces back with the same error. It does not appear that the email accounts you are trying to use are configured correctly on your mail server since your mail server says those accounts do not exist.

I've been seeing these bounce backs from your address for a while. I think I even unsubscribed you from our newsletter because the mail was bouncing back every time.

It's also not working with other e-mail addresses either.

The server response was: Unknown user

yes it appears that all of your @parentjobnet.org addresses are failing, it is the mail server for those addresses saying that the addresses don't exist.

I received a response from Yahoo! Small Business and this is what they said...

Response Via Email (Mohammed) 04/25/2013 08:36 PM
Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Small Business Support.

My name is Mohammed and I'm happy to assist you.

I understand that you are unable to receive emails from the contact form of your website "parentjobnet.org" to "info@parentjobnet.org", and you have contacted the support for the site building tool you have used, who have informed that the email accounts might not have been properly setup. I apologize for the inconvenience.

The business email address "info@parentjobnet.org" shows to be setup right on our server. However, I was not able to test this as I will have to verify that account for me to be able to access it.

I also went through the link about the contact you made with the support team for your site building tool. As your account is verified, I tested "admin@parentjobnet.org" by sending out a test email, and then email got delivered immediately. You can find this in the inbox of "admin@parentjobnet.org".

Our servers are running normally at this time and our users should not be experiencing any problems. However, at this time, Yahoo! Small Business is unable to provide support for third party scripts and software. We recommend that you visit the website associated with the software or script that is giving you trouble; you may find your answer in that website's FAQ or help forum. Alternately, you may search for keywords related to your issue on Yahoo! Search, at:

  http://search.yahoo.com

If you would like me to test the account "info@parentjobnet.org" in more detail, then to protect the integrity of your account, Yahoo! performs verification only over the telephone.

Please then reply to this email with a preferred call back number, your time zone and the appropriate time to call and we'll be happy to contact you.

You can also schedule a call back by visiting the following URL:

  http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus

After logging in with the Yahoo! ID associated with your Yahoo! Small Business plan, you will have access to our contact phone number. You will also have the option to schedule a call back. Call backs are available (English only) in the U.S., Canada, UK, India, Australia, Mexico, Singapore, Turkey, and Hong Kong.

You can also call us at:

1-408-916-2149 (billing)
1-408-916-2130 (technical)

Support is available 24 hours a day.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Small Business Support.

Regards,

Mohammed

Should I call Yahoo or speak to Arvixe (which hosts my website)?

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

I don't see how Arvixe could help in this case unless you want to change from using Yahoo email and use something that Arvixe provides.

It is a weird problem as I can verify you receive email at your domain if I mail you from my gmail but mail sent from our email server to your domain is bouncing back as user unknown. Whatever is causing that is probably also preventing the mail sent from your site, though other factors could also be involved in that case since your same address is likely the from address when mail is sent from your site.

Wish I had more advice for you but I know I never had good luck myself using Yahoo business email for my sites, newsletters sent from their servers were very often flagged as spam by receiving mail servers.

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

Just tried setting a Gmail account to receive messages and it's not working either. This is extremely weird. There's no way I'm going to contact every mail server client.

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

Your Yahoo mail is clearly messed up, it can be messed up both on the sending end and the receiving end, even if the recipient address is gmail you are still trying to relay the mail from your yahoo account. Definitely make sure the default from address in site settings is your yahoo address.

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

It looks like you have the same problem we've had - if so the problems lie with the set-up of your own web server's mail server.

I think the problem comes when you want to send mail out from your web site using a local smtp server.  So you install a mail server which is capable of outgoing and incoming mail.  You set up the domain, e.g. parentjobnet.org on the mail server so that you can send mail from that address.  This works fine when you want to send to emails on other domains - e.g. jon@parentjob.net can send to fred@otherdomain.com.

The problem comes when you want to send email to anything@parentjob.net.  What seems to happen is that the site passes the email to the smtp server to send but the mail server then examines the address and thinks "hang on that's one of my own local addersses I should be handling that myself".  It then tries to handle it as if it's incoming mail - but you don't want it to do that - the incoming mail should be processed on some other server but it never gets that far.

This is an ongoing irritation for us - just shutting down the pop/imap service on the local mail server doesn't seem to be enough.  In the interim we're using various unsatisfactory work-arounds (mainly redirects) so that we never end-up sending to an domain that we've also got set-up for outgoing emails.

We're currently using MailEnable as our mail server.  I've installed hmailserver and I think this might be more configurable but haven't had the chance to sort it out properly yet.  I've also had a bit of a go with the built-in SMTP stuff that now comes with IIS, but it's difficult to fiddle with this too much as we now have so many sites on our server and it's hard to set-up a test server for this sort of thing.

Anyway hope this is of help and if anyone knows of a good solution please let me know!

Ian

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

I don't think it is the same problem as you describe Ian. Even when mail is sent from our mails server for this forum on mojoportal.com to his domain email the mail bounces back as a non existing address. But I can send email from my personal gmail to his domain email address and it works. Something about his yahoo business mail is not working correctly or rejecting mail very aggressively.

Re: E-Mail not receiving messages from Contact Form - Details About Error in Post

No worries, Ian.

The default email address is "info@parentjobnet.org" on Site Settings.

I really don't know what to say about all of this....I'm going to check if our business email addresses are all rejecting Mojoportal.
